We were defeated by Murroe/Boher in the Junior B hurling championship last Saturday night in Kilteely on the scoreline: Knockane 1-7, Murroe/Boher 4-9. It was another disappointing championship campaign.

Knockane Vs. Pallasgreen in Kilteely at 5.30pm
Knockane 1-8, Pallasgreen 0-5
On Saturday night we defeated neighbours Pallasgreen in the semi final of the east Junior B football championship on the scoreline: Knockane 1-8, Pallasgreen 0-5. We started brightly and had points from Mike Browne, Jim Franklin and Niall Ryan to lead at the break by a single score.
In the second half, Pallasgreen fought back to narrow the gap. In the closing quarter it was Knockane who came out on top with points from sub. John Quinn and a Mike Browne goal to send us through to the east final next Sunday and a meeting with South Liberties. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Knockane Vs. South Liberties in Kilteely at 5.15pm
Knockane 0-12, South Liberties 1-9
On Sunday evening in the east Junior B football final played in Kilteely we drew with South Liberties on the scoreline: Knockane 0-12, South Liberties 1-9. In an exciting game, we dominated the opening quarter and led by 3 points through Mike Browne and Anthony O'Grady. South Liberties responded and narrowed the gap to two points at the break.
The second half was evenly contested and a South Liberties goal mid way through left us behind for the first time. The team responded well with good scores from Mike Browne, Diarmuid Grace and Niall Ryan to regain the lead entering injury time. A late score from South Liberties forced the replay which is down for next Saturday at the same venue. Many thanks to the large support on the night.

Knockane Vs. South Liberties in Kilteely at 5.15pm

Knockane captured the east Junior B football title for the first time since 1994 with a comprehensive victory over South Liberties in a replay played in Kilteely last Saturday. Scoreline: Knockane 2-12, South Liberties 0-2. The opening quarter was evenly contested with scores hard to come by. Mike Browne broke the deadlock with 2 pointed frees. Anthony O'Grady and Niall Ryan added further points before Pa Hennessy stuck with a goal just before half time.
Knockane continued the second half in similar style, and when Eamonn Cahill punched home a goal early in the half, they sense victory was in their grasp. Knockane continued to press right until the final whistle and had many fine scores from Jim Franklin, Anthony O'Grady, James O'Connor and Mike Browne.
Captain James O'Connor accepted the cup on behalf of the team amid great scenes of jubilation. Special mention must go to selectors Roger Butler and Michael O'Connell for their committment and belief in the team all year and also to trainer Tommy Flynn for his organisation and input in recent weeks. Many thanks to our large support on the day and we can now look forward to the county stages of the competition next weekend.
