In the opening junior B football league match, Knockane were defeated by neighbours Oola on the scoreline: Knockane 0-2, Oola 1-4.
Played in autrocious weather conditions on a heavy ground, Oola settled better and scored an early goal. They added a further point to lead at the interval by 1-1 to 0-0.
Knockane came back stronger in the second half and will rue a missed penalty chance near the end. Oola added further scores to emerge winners. Despite the defeat there were a number of good performances particularly by the new players Pat Halvey, Raymond Lonergan and Noel Stokes. Next Sunday we meet Ballybricken in Caherelly in a match we have to win to remain in the competition shake-up.

In the junior B football league match, Knockane were defeated by Ballybricken on the scoreline: Knockane 1-5, Ballybricken 1-10.
After a bright opening quarter, Knockane led by four point thanks to a well taken goal by Diarmuid Grace and points from Lance Carroll. Ballybricken took better advantage of their chances and replied with points in quick succession to lead by a single point at half-time: 0-6 to 1-2.
After the interval, the home side scored an early goal and added further points to secure the win. Knockane battled hard in the second half to narrow the gap, but were left to rue numerous wasted scoring chances on the day. Next Sunday we meet Cappamore in Knockane in the final match in the league.

Despite the conceding of thre first half goals, Knockane fought back well in the second half, and with improvements in the forward sector could have gotten a result from this challenge match.

Knockane Junior B hurlers played Garryspillane in a hurling challenge in Knocklong on Sunday evening. Final scoreline: Knockane 0-5, Garryspillane 3-7.
The opening half we trailed by 2-2 to 0-2 having conceded early goals, with our replies coming from Conor O'Dwyer and Diarmuid Grace. After the interval we came more into the game with points from Mike Browne, but the Bouncers rallied with further scores to finish as winners. Bob Cahill received a nasty injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Knockane Junior B hurlers play Crecora in a hurling challenge in Crecora next Saturday evening. Final scoreline will be posted next week: Knockane 1-2, Crecora 8-14.
We played Crecora in a challenge match on Saturday night last, fielding a weakend team due to the Bank holiday weekend, we were defeated by 8-14 to 1-2. The first half was quite evenly contested, with good work from Patrick Halvey leading to a goal through Brendan Collins. We trailed at half time by 1-1 to 3-5. After the break the home side came forward in droves and were able to score at will, while Knockane's sole reply came through a Fergal Grace point near the end.

On Wednesday night, we played Garryspillane in a challenge football match in Knockane. The final scoreline was: Knockane 1-10, Garryspillane 4-13.
The opening half contained many passages of good play and despite conceding 2 goals the Knockane backs played very well. Half-Time: 2-5 to 0-3.After the restart, a number of positional changes took place and saw the introduction of Larry Creamer and Noel Ryan. Diarmuid Grace kicked some good points and Conor O'Dwyer struck with a goal.

Knockane hurlers had a great victory on Friday night when defeating Murroe\Boher in the junior B hurling league on the scoreline: Knockane 3-9, Murroe\Boher 1-13.
The home side started brightly with early points from Jim Franklin and Lance Carroll. In the 20th minute, good work by Niall Ryan resulted in a great goal, but Boher replied immediately and led at half-time 1-6 to 1-5.
After the interval, Knockane goaled through Mike Browne and Brendan Collins and Conor O'Dwyer added further points, and despite strong pressure from Murroe the defense held firm. As a draw loomed, two late frees by F. Grace sealed the win. It was a tremendous performance of character, team work and no little skill and the perfect start to the hurling year.

On Sunday night in the junior B football league we were well defeated by a much sharper South Liberties outfit. Scoreline: Knockane 1-5, South Liberties 2-14.
The foundation of victory was laid down in the opening half when the opposition with unerring accuracy hit score after score and lead by ten points at the interval. Despite fighting a losing battle, Knockane kept plugging away and had fine scores through Mike Browne, Ray Sampson and a goal from Niall Ryan.

On Friday night we were well beaten by a much sharper South Liberties side in the Junior B hurling league on the scoreline: Knockane 0-9, South Liberties 3-17.
The game was over as a contest at half-time as we conceded 3 goals and never threatened to breach the Liberties defence. After the interval, the game was a better contest with Mike Browne scorer in chief.

Following a change in start time we met Kilteely\Dromkeen in the Junior A football league on Sunday afternoon in Knockane. Final scoreline: Knockane 0-7, Kilteely\Dromkeen 1-8
The first-half produced some good football with Niall Ryan and Lance Carroll kicking points from play to leave the side level 0-6 to 0-6 at half-time. The second half was a much tighter affair with scores harder to come by. Kilteely's goal after the restart proved to be the difference between the sides at the final whistle.

On Friday night we suffered a disappointing loss to Ballybricken in the crucial junior b hurling league match. Scoreline: Knockane 2-8, Ballybricken 1-12.
We started brightly with points from Mike Browne and Fergal Grace in the opening quarter. Before the interval, Conor O'Dwyer and Liam Butler scored goals in quick succession, to leave Knockane leading by nine points at half-time. It was certainly the proverbial game of two-halves, with the wind picking up and Ballybricken came right back into the game with a goal, and they tacked on further frees to level the match approaching the end. On the stroke of the final whistle they landed over a point to win by the narrowest of margins. Knockane's failure to take their chances, particularly from frees cost them dearly in the end.

On Monday evening we suffered defeat at the hands of Cappamore in the Junior A football league. Scoreline: Knockane 0-8, Cappamore 2-11. The opening half was well contested with both sides sharing the lead, Mike Browne and Niall Ryan had good points for Knockane, but Cappamore struck with a goal to lead by two points at the break.
The sides were level in the second half with Mike Browne, Niall Ryan, Lance Carroll and Liam Butler pointing for the home side. Entering the final quarter it was all to play for but Cappamore pulled away and added a further goal and points to seal the result.

Junior football challenge: Knockane Vs. Hospital\Herbertstown in Hospital at 7.30pm. We were defeated by Hospital\Herbertstown in Hospital on the scoreline: Knockane 0-6, Hospital\Herbertstown 3-7. We began the match with 14 players and were on the back peddle after 15 mins., by which time the home side led by 3-2 to 0-0. After this we came more into the match with many fine scores from play by Jim Franklin, Anthony O'Grady and Mike Browne. The second-half was evenly contested, but a weak forward line cost us dearly as we couldn't breakdown a resolute Hospital defense.

Junior hurling challenge: Knockane Vs. Staker Wallace in Elton at 11.30am. We drew with Staker Wallace on Sunday morning in a game played in wet and windy conditions in Elton. Scoreline: Knockane 2-7, Staker Wallace 3-4. We led early in the first half with pointed frees from Fergal Grace and Lance Carroll. Noel Ryan goaled just before the interval to leave us leading at half-time.
After the break, a number of changes in personnel upset the formation and led to the conceding of two goals in quick succession. Noel Ryan added another goal for Knockane, and points by the same player and substitute Liam Butler left us on level terms at the final whistle.

We defeated Camogue Rovers in a hurling challenge match on Saturday night by four points, Scoreline: Knockane 1-9, Camogue Rovers 1-5. The open-half was even contested with points from Diarmuid Grace, Lance Carroll and frees from Mike Browne putting us ahead by 0-4 to 0-3 at the interval. Camogue goaled early in the second-half, but Knockane came back with points from Browne, Fergal Grace frees and Conor O' Dwyer. Sub Roger Butler scored a goal to seal a fine victory on the eve of championship fare.

We played Camogue Rovers in a football challenge match in Meanus and lost on the scoreline: Knockane 1-7, Camogue Rovers 2-8. We led early on with a great goal volleyed home by Conor O' Dwyer and the same player added a point. A five minute spell which saw the opposition grap two quick goals gave victory to Camogue.
The second half was evenly contested, with Camogue having a number of goal chances blocked away. Denis Fitzgerald kicked three delightful points early in the half. The were many good passages of play with Niall Ryan, James O' Connor and Lance Carroll very impressive.

We defeated Garryspillane in a hurling challenge match played in Knocklong on Wednesday evening on the scoreline: Knockane 2-12, Garryspillane 2-8. We played some fine first-time hurling in the opening half and deservedly led by 2-9 to 1-1 with Conor O' Dwyer scoring both goals. Mike Browne was on form from the close-in frees and Niall Ryan scored three fine points from play.
After the interval we sat back and left the Bouncers back into the match. Jim Franklin was in super form at half-back and despite leaving the leg off the gas a little we still held out to win well in the finish. Wishing Anthony O' Grady a speedy recovery from injury and hope he will be fit for championship on Sunday night.

We playing St. Patrick's in a football challenge in Limerick and were defeated by Knockane 2-5, St. Patrick's 3-8. While this was a worthwhile exercise, we failed to field a full team, relying on the opposition to make up the numbers.
