SEPT- OCT - NOV - DEC 2004

We had high hopes of adding back-to-back football titles when we met Pallasgreen in the east final in early September. The match ended in a draw 1-4 to 1-4 and we had to wait 3 weeks for the replay. The replay looked like going our way, leading by 5 points with 15mins left, but a late rally by Pallasgreen saw them emerging as victors. In the county quarter final we were well defeated by eventual county champions Bruff in a match played in Hospital.

Michael Breen was a recipient of an award at the old time Gaels of East Limerick awards for his contribution to GAA with the Knockane Club in east limerick at the awards ceremony in November. Also in the same month, Lance Carroll, full-back and captain this year, won the East Board Sports All Star award for junior b football.

JUNE - JULY - AUG 2004

The Fitzgerald family and Knockane GAA club mourn the untimely death of former player Jimmy Fitzgerald of Garrydoolis who was laid to rest in Templebreadon cemetery.

We defeated Oola in the opening round of the football championship and accounted for South Liberties in the semi-final. In hurling, the introduction of Pat Heffernan as trainer made an immediate impact. Within a couple of weeks training the standard had improved dramatically, we defeated Ballybricken and Doon to reach the semi-final against rivals Pallasgreen. After a nervous opening half and trailing by 8 points, we showed better form in the second half to narrow the gap. A late goal by Pallasgreen gave them victory on the night.

A very successful Sports Day was held in Knockane in August organised by the GAA Club.

MAR - APR - MAY 2004

We drew with Doon in the opening round of the hurling league: 0-8 to 0-8.

We suffered defeats in our remaining matchs against Ahane, South Liberties, Pallasgreen and Murroe-Boher. In the football league we defeated Oola but lost to Pallasgreen, Fedamore and Caherconlish
